Bilal returning a lost leather wallet to an elderly woman at a village market - illustration for the story The Power of Honesty

Bilal was a kind and honest boy who lived in a small village. One day, while returning from the market, he spotted a leather wallet lying on the road. He looked around — no one was in sight. He picked it up and opened it: inside were some banknotes and an identity card. For a moment, Bilal's heart raced. With that money he could buy the toys he had been dreaming of for months. His hands trembled. But then he remembered his grandfather's words: "Son, never betray someone's trust, whether anyone is watching or not." Bilal made up his mind at once. He went to the address on the card and knocked. An old man opened the door, looking worried sick. Bilal placed the wallet in his hands. Tears filled the old man's eyes. "Son, this had my medicine money in it. May God reward you," he said, praying for him. That day Bilal learned that the joy of honesty is sweeter than any toy.

Moral: Honesty always pays — its reward is the sweetest of all.
